Ecelectition
It is for this reason it has a …greater value than the sum of its parts.
This was shot some years ago and does not truly represent my work or myself properly.
However it is a document which will be a good reference point in comparison to the newer footage in the Full length version.
To exemplify my statement I will quote you from a few conversations on this subject.
A close friend saw the “Eclectician” Preview and upon reflection said “I really don’t know what to think!”
My reply, “How do you mean?”
“Well.” She said, “This is not the ‘you’ I know.”
I retorted, “Aw, this is a great observation! You see my dear, I am not that person on the screen.”
“What do you mean? Was her inquiry.
“The purpose for this film being put out now, is not so much to present me as a personality or anything of the sort. It is more about having a conversation. This conversational element to do with my realizations up until that point in my life. In retrospect this will be an excellent document to give perspective by comparison with the newer takes and others which have yet to be shot— revealing by comparison a closer view of who I am now and how this has effected the work.”
An artist and curator, Sharon Pontier had an excellent point to make when she said, “Antonin, I feel we had a conversation after viewing the Eclectician… one we may or may not have ever had before. But I do not have a comparable film to share as an answer! It is like we talked! Had a conversation but we didn’t! Being in a NOW place makes sense… and sort of slows down time; which then makes everything else feel fleeting except this moment! When I am drawing or painting it is always a very present time for me. Yes, I look forward to more of the like. Being in that warm ‘Now’ feeling! Great work!
Here we have the intention of the film personified in a visual interplay like we have when are in an intimate discussion about things unseen but more real than we can know…

“Whispers From Eternity”
“Whispers” is an over 70 minute recording of solo Harp music composed and performed by Antonin in the summer of 2007. This is a masterful journey of …color pallets, sublime candor, passion, peace and an ongoing evolution into inward heart flights deep into the infinite Mother; reminding us of our true original nature.
The quality of remembering essence is brought out when one listens to the spaciousness, the leaps & the timeless landings and the ever flowing ever gushing glissandos of these pure light tones.
From Whispers to Eternity says it all in to this magnificent set of four suites and a conclusion
The 27th track conclusion is entitled,
“To go forward is to return to the source.”
One can hear the 3rd & title track played on Antonin’s interview on the “Golden Years” radio show.
David Darling on the Harp of Antonin:
“Observing Antonin pick up this instrument for the first time and to see 6 months later he had literally mastered it is evidence of genius!

It is a joy to listen to the sincerity in his sound!

The piece runs through a series of themes which do
not need repetition as the elaborations merge and find their own way into the following sections.
They come and go …as the moods of the moment.
As the air through the trees or as the clouds upon
an open sky.
Blending in a new and different way each time.
Antonin has managed to solidify what only ‘seemed’ to be
solid before.
The blend of densities & the ephemeral nature of the themes grow into a form only to be cast aside to a new and yet familiar response.
It is as if he is communicating with silence.
Something of which he has spoken of.
The spontaneous composing contorts, conforms,
grows, gives birth to newly founded promenades
leading us into unchartered territories where he
manages to retrieve us from with a moment’s notice;
returning us to a continuity ever resolving.
His rock solid grounded conviction is ever more present here in this tour de force.
Antonin’s disciplined focus merging the solo medium
with composition has brought us a
a vastly divergent approach wherein he is able to slip and slide in and out of what often before may have taken others a much longer compositionally developmental period.
This may well be a bit more challenging than any of the other solo guitar works he has produced in recent years.
However it is one of the most satisfying to this author!
As well it may well be the most complex of the four that came before yet still bearing his sonorous quality
His astounding touch, a flair for bearing the brunt of the sheer tenacity of will
balancing on the edge of the precipice about to fall off the steepest cliff he himself provides for us to hang onto…
Captivating us and always coming to fruition a consistency of maintaining a perfect sense of renewed continuity while also preserving his personal as always endearing quality of an ever enduring simplicity of one direction…
While ever moving into new frontiers.
This movement inspires this listener while it may
dissuade some. The average listener these days if new to his work may miss;
as the requirement of holding a deep solid focus; which is not so fashionable in the new cyber world;
—-as this music as all Art demands just that.
{Not for the attention deficit types.}
This music is downright demanding!
As all Art should, is & does.
We hear the ‘New Music’ trends coming through more readily & smoothly.
We hear what Antonin means when he says he loves the work of Miles Davis, Charles Ives, Bartok, Stravinsky,
Stockhausen: all blended with Brazil, Arabic,
Indian & other gypsy influences.
So too we hear a “deepening” of his originality in this album more than ever!
Here we see Antonin drawing a corollary I am not sure anyone else ever has. Taking the old world Spanish guitar, Gypsy influenced modalities and emotional values and merging them with the modernists.
Quite an undertaking.
So now we can see this? This is & has been what he has been doing all along.
But of course, once again we must clarify.
He is not doing any studied academic scoring work. Neither prewritten score nor study of these masters but rather he is assimilating this influence and progression all purely by his own inner felt sonic osmosis process.
Hence we can say he is a genuine original.
This one voice sings through us…

Night of the Oud
I’d like to express my appreciation to Heather Hess Haynes for her wonderful contribution to all our lives. This is a celebration of her short lived life!
She …was a remarkable person who worked mostly with children, bringing them into a greater awareness of their connection with nature through doing nature walks, conferences and workshops.
A truly green conscious person, Heather ran the Princeton/Blairstown center for 15 years while it was predominantly promoting the same goals for inner city children and adults alike.
This presentation, however humble is a small memorandum or memorial to her life work.
All the photos in the slide show were shot by her in Africa.
The music is free flowing and dedicated to those goals…
The Night of the Oud is about being a stranger in a strange land where one is immediately immersed in an ancient culture one finds fascinating yet contrastingly—an unfathomably challenging experience!
It is not just “Night” music but it is a fusion of & my first take on Mid African, Egyptian & Gnawa influenced solo Oud! A piece which has a few variations in instrumentation included. {There are 4 more full length Oud CDs to come.}
I will never forget all of the adventures we went on with our small heart family group!
Heather completely surprised me with her open hearted love of and knowledge of nature and when she exclaimed one year on her birthday….”I am so thankful to have been born to share these life experiences with you! “—-where upon I was brought to tears!
It was a year later on my birthday she made her first art piece {which I still have}, and she exclaimed: “I am so thankful you were BORN!” this too still brings a tear to these eyes….
Later this became a mantra thing where she would say: “Thank you for being Born!”
I now have the chance to return that sentiment, “Thank You! Heather for being BORN!”
Heather told me we would meet again soon when she passed….
May it be so………….

The 10,000 Voices of Gaia
In 2018 while working on the “Waves of Passion” CD i was involved with “One Man Orchestra” -David Darling on another long term project of which …i had composed a group of introspective, relaxing & dare we say? Healing Music compositions dealing with specific classical guitar and cello tonalities which bring a heart opening and calming effect to the listener.
I was in the middle of a composition called Currents 11 of which Waves would be number 12.
My overall feeling was i was on a roll and i was going to continue on in this vein of already eleven different 80 minute compositions.
But then after doing Waves i realized playing over a large scale production was now my new direction and i went that way. In the interim i was composing another large scale piece for that purpose when i realized what i wanted was to honor and celebrate GAIA the real support system we all share as we live on her form and live through her sustenance.
This is where the heart of this piece comes from….
The choice for a super peaceful composition with an overall female {like the tao} or motherly soothing and nurturing harmony was paramount in the intention of going this way. Having been taken by surprise by just how beautiful the voices struck me -i never did record solo guitar over it –as i did with Waves of Passion. David loved the sound and so we used a tiny bit of it on a track he especially enjoyed playing on; which is from the as yet incomplete “Quiet Miracles” CD. {This is the aforementioned long term series of healing music compositions.}
This was all back in April of 2018.
So as i studied the 10,000 Voices i understood it was a complete piece unto itself and went into mixing and moving around a lot of the harmonies along with certain studio tricks to bring out certain frequencies, harmonies and treatments which i believe and brought this Celebration to fruition.
The pictures shone here are mostly original phots and art with a few exceptions toward this intention.
PS: The two male portrait versions in sepia and in blue are of Cy Rimbaud, a master of the visionary psyche, the understanding of the un-understandable, of the spiritual in Art, in the limits of literature as too of hue man understanding… This man is a particular persona of unparalleled stature in my eyes…

“Waves of Passion” CURRENTS 11
Featuring David Darling Cello
Electronic Guitar, arrangements, composition, realization: Antonin
Arrangement & Guitar Recording May 4-5 2018.
Engineered and Mastered by Dean Rickard at Ruby Reed Studios
This composition …was decades in the making, after their meeting in the 90s. It all came about as Antonin began composing pieces for David. This is the “Quiet Miracles” cd.
These pieces led to this, some years later —David making his magic {2017-18} by taking these structures and ‘Symphonizing’ them from the recordings Antonin compiled.
The orchestrations led to Antonin taking them and making this arrangement out of those pieces which “fell together like a melon from heaven” as the Chinese say!
So the original Quiet Miracles material was the seed from which this orchestration grew. The ‘Metamorphosis” continued to grow as the recorded files flooded into and out of an Improvisational/Composition.
It is with great joy we are proud to present this side of both these individual voices which has not been heard!
64 tracks of cello by the master David Darling {Cellist, Composer, Educator, Founder of Music for People, Grammy Award Winner and 14 time Grammy Nominee}… who sets quite a different mood.
It is a sound scape of rare beauty, emotional potency establishing an integrity, intimacy, and a surging Current of emotional power these two disciples of heart are able to fly with!
“Waves” is a deeply felt music sharing in a profoundly evocative intensity yet it emerges in a relaxed and reflective intensity… A rare combination today…
This is the First of the Currents series of recordings with strings —resembling an orchestral symphonic composition, reminding us of the European classical tradition.
The electric guitar slowly enters with subtlety upon subtlety like the wind creeping in from the distant mountains…
As we get deep into this ‘mood piece’ we hear Antonin step up.
The sonic brush strokes turn from soft pastels to a violet indigo impasto.
There is a reserved strength about to explode here.
Ever building this calming relaxed intensity gets wild but without ever even the slightest danger of over statement or losing the undulating continuity of mood and vibrancy.
New melodic invention surprises and holds one’s attention; even after this over one hour solo: bringing in new colours, harmonies and sonic messages of harmonic wholeness.
The mood varies in its subtle movements.
There is an introspective quality, a melancholy, a longing plaintive tone by both these men. Not unlike the pathos of the Greeks: an ongoing yearning for immortal peace…
It is as if they were meant to play together!
A freshness of renewal, a greatness of intention, the joy of new life birthing itself into form.
To put it all in a word… “PASSION!”
The passionate-compassionate nature of two people willing to be vulnerable enough to allow their inspiration to take them as far or as close to home as anyone dare
—makes this a brilliant expression of the rhythm of our times, of life itself; where people lament and feel joy in the very next second without even conscious awareness of why.
Here is why!
It is that seemingly inexpressible PASSION in us unexpressed.
Here it is now coming to fruition, fully Expressed!!!
Cy Rimbaud
David Grego on Waves of Passion…
{My first impression I found the piece to immediately have this incredible impact on me!
It is something quite powerful and extremely well arranged, composed and constructed in form and continuity. Even after hearing only the first 20 minutes it has a completeness all its own! Great stuff! Keep it up!”
—David Grego is the tubist and double bassist at the Lincoln Center Metropolitan Opera, has performed with the likes of Howard Johnson {best tuba downbeat}, Kenny Kirkland, Carla Bley, Charlie Haden, Jaco Pastorius, Geri Allen, Dennis Charles, the composer Lamont Young. He studied with Miles Davis & is on countless recordings including the first, the debut of the Universe Symphony by Charles Ives!
Artist’s note:
“I would like to thank my astute comrade David Darling for his undying dedication to music making, to inspiring younger musicians and to his seminal influence in my life which I would not be the same without.
I experienced some of the most meaningful moments of my life in the making of this passionate compassion we share in this a wondrously purifying process as servants of the creative essence of the universe that dwells in all of us & in this our love of music.”

The Quintessence
The “Quintessence” is a live recording with one Neumann in my studio.
This was the first time we played together in late July of 2004.
All the dynamics and …compositional uniqueness is a natural occurrence of Love!
It was only a few days after the passing of my father that this group came together!
I was pretty much crushed by the loss and whole event strickened me to an unfortunate result.
Probably due to the years of personal illness and that other his which led up to this great sorrow. A friend Andy Smith was there for me when it happened and this helped buffer the impact! I am ever grateful to him and to my dad who i helped to pass to the other side by playing the diminution technique of playing music for him in a fashion so to assist him so he could let go…
So a few days later feeling alone and a bit lost i found myself surrounded by a whole new family!
I had recently connected to Bora in NYC and the Sufi family had come to visit. We had a grand time and this recording of our first musical association was added to by the realization that with my dad’s passing i was now welcoming in a whole new family of great folks.
There is a vibrancy here which flows as if we were playing together all our lives!
This recording was used in Turkey in a book of music about the Masters of Turkish Folk Music spreading out all around the world. I am so happy to be a part of this vast family of musicians everywhere even in other galaxies and universes.
Music is the one International Language that crosses all differences and unifies in the heart…
Musicians—
Bora Yasar- saz, kopuz, yayli, tambur, guitar
0ljay Sesen- rhythm guitar, bendir, voice
Ali Kayha- bendir, percussion, timpani, Chinese blocks, cymbals, voice

Andalou Mosaic featuring Antonin!
The Mosaic is a group which combines ancient instruments to create a fusion of modern day sounds that bear traditional forms. Made up of interspersing classical Turkish, Folkloric, and Sufi music improvisation is the key element, the binding gluing these musicians together. Performed in the Anatolian maqquam system. This recording includes a wide variety of styles and influences from songs of mystic love {ghazel} to hymns {ikahi} and the music of the Ottoman Court.
They have successfully combined the traditions of several ethnicities, societies and tribes of Asia Minor throughout history beginning from the Ottomans, through the Greeks, Romans, Armenians, Laz, Azeri, Jews, and the Kurds…
By fusing all this music with their own improvisations we have a gorgeous collaboration of the best of many worlds.
With the addition of Antonin comes various other influences. Such as East Indian with western approaches from African, jazz to a unique classical form of “chamber jazz” improvisational blend! Bringing another unique voice to this collective cultural session. Antonin’s poetry moves this collaboration piece further into a wondrous melting pot of many divergent yet combined colures…
“What’s so great, is the ancients meeting heart to heart with today!”
Track List:
Tangerine Tears Whispering the Last Goodbye
Quintessence: First Meeting
Desert Waves
Whispering One Heart -harp solo
The Road to Jerusalem
Atmos: Dunes Adrift
Accompanying the music is a poem from Antonin…
Tangerine Tears
Tangerine tears whispering the Last Goodbye
The sweetest fruit turns to salt
Like a pomegranate on the sand
Turning into air
The air we breathe goes into bodies
& comes out in gales
As sadness turns to sweetness
In the Oasis of forgetfulness
We interweave together a tapestry of lights
Like a Turkish seamstress revolving around the earth
Threading Crayola patches upon the wavering sands
Dervishing far and wide
We come to sit together once again
When we think it is for our first time… meeting….
Yet nothing is how it seems…

Solea
Solea is an Oud recording from the end of 2018 to early 2019, when Antonin returned to the Oud as if for the very first time, {a strange statement …however true as he had never actually played the Oud in a melodic or a conventional manner but used it for the experimental music of the 90s. The only exception can be heard on a single track on the first Abode recording.}
The return so to speak to the Oud was to take care of unfinished business something he had always wanted to do but it took almost 20 years to build up inside him for the sensibility to emerge into these recordings…
He completed a number of projects starting with the “Night of the Oud” “Aw Oud” “Chaconne”, and an unnamed incomplete CD.
While returning to an Andalusian flavored mélange of pieces with the flavors of the Strait of Gibraltar the doorway to Iberia. Or as the ancients called it “The Gate of Charity; he completed the Oud compositions with Solea.
Solea incidentally is the name of a species of fish which have both eyes on the same side of the head and as they grow one of their eyes moves across to the other side of their face. They call it evolution of seeing. This is truly a beautiful idea which resonates with Antonin as a metaphor for creative life pursuits.
Solea is also the mother of all Flamenco forms of which Antonin has always loved.
It is purely by Osmosis which these compositions came about one evening late in the fall when the time is right for discovering what lies within the psyche to be expressed openly now in the wide world air.
The music is highly charged personal fusion of spontaneous composition with Andalusian, Nigerian, Gnawa and Antonin’s other influences…
He received no training on the Oud nor in this music as he did not in many of the instruments he picks up for a time —to pour out what will come and then put them down again until the occasion arises once again…
It is all intuitively inspired and done on what is called the ‘Unawares’…
It is from this core element or bare bones ‘feel’ that came about while actually quite recently as heard in the addition of vocal treatments to these compositions.
The voices are microtonal vocalizations which hint at Tibetan, Mongolian, Tuvan, Rajasthani, Aboriginal and other cave people’s way of freely expressing themselves.
One voice can be heard as a didgeridoo voice while another is a quad reed voice as he bellows through different hollow gourds and flute like appendages.
Antonin has incorporated these qualities into the Oud music bringing it into a new light of a globe unity ancient into the Present Now sound….
Once again we can expect the unexpected from him in all his new works.

“Gira Sol” means to be Golden! Like the Sun! To be a Sunflower, to personify and sensualize the … ever stunning shimmering opalescence of pure source essence! The soul of the sun sings through us =through these tracks of love, longing and parting only to return once again in union.
To Antonin the quality of ‘Heliosis’ or the flash of the directly realized experience of this golden light; from focusing within the heart center is the meaning of life.
It is the same way as a flower turns toward the rising Sun all day. This is what science calls Heliotropism.
Heliosis is an internal Heliotropism as we turn inward to the soul for our comforting peace. It is here- truly our reality deepens.
By opening this internal heart, we are able to bring it to or into wherever we do, go or whatever we desire -putting a golden magnetism out into our world.
This way of life is living in the jeweled heart, the lover in this Gira Sol presence is the beloved imbued in this music.

Santoora ABODE 10
This is the tenth Abode CD.
The Abode series began as World Music duos with Tabla.
As time when on the instrumentation increased with larger ensembles but now has come …around to one 10 track solo piece of world music instruments.
There is actually a total of more than ten instruments included but the ten tracks are centered around one at a time except for the two percussion ensembles which make up many more. So this, the tenth Abode CD recording of the same number of instrumentals came together with the ease of this perpetually journeying recital…
There is a certain intimacy only found in the unaccompanied solo format which allows the piece to unfold finding its own cycles of development without other influences other than the heart communing with itself in present moment awareness.
This intimacy found here is like bird song which is as much a part of the silence as it is in expressing the sound…
The previous 9 Abode CDs will also be coming to this channel soon.

ANIMA
Anima is the second recording following “Gira Sol” in this Spanish Guitar series. It is a full 75 plus minute CD selection centering around Antonin’s treatment of melodic invention …as well as the fusion of world tonalities! All blended into a melting pot of one harmony we will begin to recognize as his inimitable sound of this period.
These works are folk related, sonorous statements of a uniquely titillating voice blending his great loves of Andalusia, India, China, Gypsy, Sephardic and African music.
Along with the Spanish guitar there are the additional instruments of the Chinese Hunan Gourd flute, Sitar, 7 string fretless baritone guitar… Featuring two special guest artists: Vocalists Magda Polkowski the Story Teller from Poland on track 7 and the Poet and free improviser Suzanne Kole from Baha on tracks 2 & 13.
The two ladies leave a lasting impression and give this recording a rare jewel like quality. One that only the female human voice is capable of. Such a joy to hear Antonin’s stunning collaboration with these two wonderful voices leaving us with a whole other nuance.

This Antonin’s first solo 12 string recording is a nice switch toward Americana.
By no means does this mean the music is less formidable yet it strokes a …down home chord of familiarity.
The Guitar is often stark yet filled with an energy, the sound is large and in the periphery i thought i was listening to a piano until it came back into the midrange tonality we know so well as that celebrated sound of a 12 string guitar.
The compositions are varied and run through like one extended composition.
There is a sweetness, a turn of sour and a miraculous nature here along with some nods to Antonin’s early influences such as Thelonious Melodious and the feeling of the Blues in Cry Blue.
There is an assured conviction as always but here the elegance of ideas meets us with such grace & poise —as Antonin gives us his intimate take on how Appalachia has come into his life. There is a gorgeous melodicism and the huge harmonies truly are lyrical.
This is one of the most accessible of his efforts to date.
I feel i can play this for anyone without the thought they will miss the metaphor.

As a testament to the determination of the art in the artist: “During the recording the nut cracked apart early on while i was playing. But the momentum was in full bloom. So i dared not break the flow. I continued on and what you hear is a work around as well there is a buzz in the instrument. Fortunately i found it pleasing. As the recording came to a close so did the playability. It gave out! The last thing we hear on the CD is the nut completely giving way –to conclude “The Revival.”

“The Beautiful Gardner” CD is a 78 minute unaccompanied solo recording from 2015 of the mysterious Balalaika, a Russian folk & classical instrument. Antonin’s sound is brightly melodic, satisfyingly rhythmic, …
softly impassioned, endearing and often wild & blistering.
This was recorded this early in 2015 just before acquiring his first truly Spanish guitar which began a run of CDs starting with Gaia Sol, at such a time when one realizes not only their heart is broken but there is no one who can ever put it back together for them.
Antonin’s eclectic style encompasses classical, jazz, Indian, Arabic, Spanish, Celtic, Italian, Greek and other ancient folk music influences of the Orient to bring together a vastly comprehensive expression never heard before on this beautifully endearing mandolin like instrument.
With its alto/soprano tonality and triangular body, the sound is unmistakably one of verve & of sweetness of celestial heart felt frequencies.
Dedicated by Antonin to love- lover, the beloved within….
Mad Love
This is a deeply personal statement of heart felt madness.
They often say from Rococo & to Surrealism & around the world…
to be in love is to go mad!
Here we find no greater truth!
Once the madness has bewitched you?
You are a goner.
Once a heart has been broken, does it ever mend?
Not in time, not in forgetfulness, not even in music…
But only in wholeness…
Returning to wholeness is my wish for the whole of this world
of broken hearts and fragmented souls!

softly impassioned, endearing and often wild & blistering.

“Where Imaginings Abound”
David was magnanimous, a truly impeccable human being!
There are a few tracks here he adored and all I included were chosen with respect to that perspective!
David the …man’s exuberance overflows, pouring out generously from his heart!
I am so fortunate to be a part of these works and thankful for the opportunity to share this the first half of “Where Imaginings Abound!”
When David dug into the groove/moment -the miracles wither quiet or explosive? Sang! So sonorously filled with so much soul! So much exuberant presence! No one could help but be drawn to his light his magnetic heart of wonderment!
He will always remain there as one of the major influences in my life!!!

Where Imaginings Remain
This recording is the follow up to the original with a pronounced dynamism which reveals some of the more wild aspects to David’s interests and abilities. We often were involved in mixing it up.
He never really differentiated between different types of music although many chose to try to pigeonhole him into the New Age genre. His work is so much more than any label could describe.
There are many variations in style and performance here giving us a wide view of his heart felt accomplishments and brilliant achievements.
Colon Walcott, in his words, “Colon was one of the most beautiful human beings l’ve ever known!”
This among them are some pieces we planned or never completed as there is on CD 1.
I decided to complete these for him so there was no unfinished affairs left behind here!
This work is his—it is all for him!
His profound influence will remain in the Realm of the Giants!
Casting a Great Light on all who might undertake to their own legacy.

This music is fiery, unpredictable, energetic yet folksy in a global way. This music is uplifting and brings everyone who listen to it to renewed joyfulness and spiritual vitality.
Much of Antonin’s songs of longing and fulfillment are devoted to the lost art of Playfulness and

Abode VI is a return to the first Abode group.
It is comprised of solos & duets with ‘Arjune’
Recorded by Dean Rickard one day in January 2006.
Solos recorded in Feb 2016.
Opening …with a peaceful “Heart Opening” the mood is set!
“Festival of Insights” features Fretless Guitar & Tabla
The Indian stylings cannot be denied but its an original fused effort.
This is an exciting new adventure expanding on the original Abode recordings decades ago.
Arjune ever in the moment is so tightly connected to Antonin- We can see why they are having so much fun.
There is a carefree sense of humor & childlike nuance here…
This is exactly how the first Abode came about.
The percussion duet is a surprising addition.
This whole recording leans into heavy grooving.
I am always enjoying new flavors from Antonin’s non-traditional Eastern approach in the Abode series.
The meter fluxes as the cycles are fluid like a Divine rhythm breathing through us.
Next up comes a unison line both men run with–
The Guitar and the Tabla are one!
Unfortunately i would have loved to hear this piece be explored in a more extended version.
The peaceful solo E. Sitar plays a gentle tender chordal jewel that soon erupts into a grooving solo excursion.
The Percussion duet “Silent Hands” reveal Antonin’s melodic percussion as his and Arjune’s playful nature intertwine.
Featured is a new duet version of Antonin’s Ellipsis composition, “Lion in Winter” performed in a duet with tabla is an expansive piece.. The powerful interplay, melodic interpretation here is as always a major part of Antonin’s Abode World Music set.
The choice not to return to the melody gives me the feeling it has not ended.
The addition of the Indian Sitars predominate much of this brilliant Collection making it yet another unique excursion into timeless World Music & Beyond!

Tuva Blue- Abode 6 is a unique recording featuring the first of the … Polish Storyteller Magda Polkowska {known throughout Europe} onTuvan Horse Head Fiddle, Vocals. Aidys Norbu on Tuvan Fiddle, Throat Singing, and on Tuvan four string tenor guitar on his solo track.
Exotic tonalities make this recording a stunning set of titillating Siberian tonalities.
Antonin plays the Mongolian Harp, the Russian Balanka, Tibetan Mandolin, the Fretless Baritone Sarod-Guitar as he never has {in a Blue Tuvan way}, the Chinese Chin Chin, Tuvan stick and Kashmiri sitar, Tibetan singing bowls, jaw harp overtones, treatments and Cosmic Chant.
This is not like any of Antonin’s previous works! The overall flavor is filled with an intimate mood indigo of the Himalayan sunrise, the evening of lives passing by. The scent of the Tuvan air above the Step which grew into a Tuvan Blues while befriending a fellow traveler and a smiling sister delivering stunning World Folklore Poetry in pure scintillating sound.

The memories of Story Telling, Sky People Theatre & friendships lost are all bound up in these tears of light like snow melting hearts on Mountains.

What question?
The question of nostalgia and longing for a return to completion. But even more so to the love of a mother for her child!

Abode VIII “Source Self Transmutation”
Liner Notes
Abode …8 encompasses an over 20 year period of documentation of world music themes & sensibilities with the culmination in this what i can only refer to as an epiphany of “Transmutation!”
These “Unimaginable Frequencies” realized on the Svahalani which Antonin foresaw many years ago but did not come into being until just the beginning of this year with the realization of sliding overtones emanating from the “Svahalani” This is a new way of hearing/feeling music for me…
This music is in line with the experiences of a turbulent life. Yet his newest development draws all the different world cultural conceptions of fused elements into Radical Wholeness…
The Indian, Persian, African influences are present as usual but with new deeper levels of integration and gestural elaboration in the continuity of oneness.
Dates of recording vary. Beginning in the early 90s Antonin began to venture out from his standard ensemble of instruments to more World instruments. It was not as abrupt as all that. He had been collecting percussion, flutes, ocarinas, & others since 1980 when he was in California. He returned with his first Kalimba, Native flutes & a handful of oddly attractive primitive instruments which he was able to instantly play while carrying them home.
It was in the 90s when he was very ill that this wakeup call brought him to decide if he did not explore what he desired most? He might not have another chance. This idea of “Doing everything one desires before they die” has stayed with him as a decisional factor in his innumerable musical, painterly sculptural, installational, multimedia and other creative endeavors & explorations. Since, he has been designing instruments & mutating existing ones to bring about the tonalities which reflect his current direction. The result is a grand amassing of transmuted timbres, textures, ectended ranges and original conceptions for new frontiers in a new millennium.
One experiences these developments most profoundly in his large ensemble compositions as well as the numerous intimate & solo expressions of his undaunted by change but rather riding it before it happens serendipity!” -which can only add up to genius in the mind of this writer.
Here in these intimate venues he excels in an alternatively minded -ever growing fashion as the expansion of a conscious effort to satisfy the truth of his desire in getting out of his own way to bring to life all he may and can before he leaves this world.
This expansion forward includes compiling of prerecorded sonic documents bringing them into their place they have awaiting to be completed within.
This album is yet another testament to his directness and extrapolation in each new venture.
Seemingly without limit he breaks through to new areas only to return to his “Abode” format. Bringing with it “The wholeness,” as he puts it, “of renewal!”
The newness of the ancientness here astounds my ear felt sensibilities and i have been an ethnomusicologist for most of my life.
If one could invent a whole “Lost Civilization” of SOUND? He has done it.

The solo medium here is concisely focused in vignette themes & developed swiftly in contrast to Antonin’s epic stylings expanded upon in his extended spontaneous compositions.
He explored different undetermined approaches, there is even a Baroquesk nod to the past in the intro to the piece: “Only Honesty” which is as emotional as it is memorable.
I am sure it is as much of a surprise to him as it is to our ears & heart.
His rich harpistry or harp like artistry on the guitar is reminiscent or at least his own take on the harp like approach to the guitar first mentioned by Alonso Mudarra.
“A Meiosis of feeling transmitted into sound expression through the medium of the air where emotions & hearts fly!”
For me this is how music can only be…
